RSI Injury Treatment

What is a repetitive strain injury (RSI)?

Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is primarily caused by repetitive movements. It is used to describe a range of problems that affect your muscles, tendons, joints, and nerves in your upper body. Repeated strain on these tissues can start to damage them and as time goes on, this can cause pain and loss of strength.

RSI can cause pain and tenderness in your muscles and joints, especially during certain activities. It usually occurs in your upper limbs, including your arms, shoulders, wrists, and hands. You may not exhibit physical signs such as swelling even though it can be painful.

Some symptoms of RSI are:

  • Aches
  • Stiffness
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Weakness
  • Cramp
  • Reduced movement in your joints

Our RSI Injury Treatment Services

RSI symptoms can worsen over time if left untreated. There are different RSI injury treatments we provide that can help.

  1. Physiotherapy: A physiotherapist can help restore movement and function in the part of your body that is affected. This is done through a combination of manual therapy, exercise, and advanced techniques to help manage and alleviate pain. Physiotherapists can also recommend stretching exercises to strengthen the muscles around the affected area, helping you avoid future injuries.
  2. Steroid injection therapy: Steroid injection therapy is an RSI injury treatment option. In cases where the pain is severe and other measures are exhausted, steroid injections may be offered to manage the injury. Steroid injections can provide fast pain relief.
